Headlights November 2009

This installation, located in a storefront during an artwalk, used light levels to choose words from a poem.  As cars drove by space, the headlights would gradually become brighter, naturally filling the room with light.  At the same time, changes in light caused words to be chosen from the poem and projected in the space.  When no cars were present, light levels remained low, so the first few words of the text would be repeated in varying sequences.  When cars drove by, a torrent of language accompanied the reflections, shadows and noises from the cars.
